Segozero holiday village, a new tourist project of Karelia, welcomes its first guests in 2012.
The holiday village is located in Central Karelia, on the bank of the lake of the same name.
Geographical location of the holiday village is quite good. Besides Lake Segozero and the Luzhma River, there are dozens of interesting water bodies and sights within reach:
- large Lakes Maslozero, Ondozero, Elmozero, Seletskoye, Yangozero;
- the Songo, the Voloma, and the Segezha Rivers;
- Mount Vottovaara;
- Lake Suavjärvi – the oldest known impact crater on Earth;
- dozens of smaller lakes and rivers.
The most interesting leisure activities are fishing, both pro, and amateur; hunting, boating, travelling by car and hiking, sightseeing, including Solovki and Kizhi; rafting; within the period from July to September it is picking mushrooms and berries.
Guests are welcome to bring their own equipment, or use the available vehicles, boats, outboards, snowmobiles and equipment on-site.
The hiliday vollage is situated in the surburb of the ancient Karelian village of Padany in where there are shops, a post-office, a first-aid post. There is a steady mobile communication provided by cellular operator Megafone.
Among the Padany's attractions there are Karelian folk choir, a memorial to partisans, a monument to the Olympic cross-country skiing champion Feodor Terentyev who was the native of Padany.
